Search Placement
Millions of web sites are built each year, yet the majority of these sites are never found. Over 90% of Internet users rely on search engines to find the information they need. Unfortunately, at least 80% of all web pages are never found by search engines. Search optimization is the key to your success on the Internet. Yahoo alone has over 65 million registered users! It is also estimated that the top 30 results receive over 90% of search traffic. Most search engine users never go beyond the top 30 search engine rankings for a single search. A recent U.S. study has found that the World Wide Web contains more than 8.1 billion documents and is growing at the rate of seven million pages per day! According to eye-tracking studies, searchers scan a search results page from top to bottom and left to right, looking for a relevant result. Search placement at or near the top of the rankings will increase the number of visitors to a site.

Internet marketing is very inexpensive when compared to other forms of advertising. Your company can reach a wide audience for a small fraction of traditional advertising budgets. Successful internet marketing will drive organic traffic to website but only if your website has a good search ranking. Without a search listing your website is invisible. I can work with your existing website and web master to get your site a top 10 ranking.

Google Search Fact
After submitting your web site to Google there is a lag time before your pages will show up in search results. After submission Google will visit your website and spider the site. It is only after a period in the "Google Sandbox" that your site will actually show up in the natural search results. The "Google Sandbox" will only return filtered results while it is indexing your site. Google's indexing can take up to 1-2 months. Therefore do not get panic if your site is not shown in the natural keyword searches right after your your website has been submitted.

Search Engine Fact
Search engines do not really search the World Wide Web directly. Each one searches a database of web pages selected from billions of web pages on the internet. When you search the web using a search engine, you are always searching a slightly older copy of the real web page.

Web Search placement consists of three parts.
1.
web page optimization; Making sure your pages are search engine friendly. I like to call this search spider Feng Shui. This includes such things as making sure there is enough relevent text content on the website to attract the search spiders. Image content does not count, search spiders will not read the pretty Corel image or Flash movie as anything other than an image, any information you may have inside that image will be invisible to a search spider. A set of text links for each page is another necessity. Flash navigation looks great but cannot be used by the search spiders. I use some flash navigation on this site but I also use plain text hyperlinks at the bottom of each page. Plain text hyperlinks insure the free flow of the search spiders through a web site.

2.
Proper meta tags on each page of the website. There are many in our business that have declared the death of the meta tag, those people are very wrong. I have a suspicion that most of the SEO advocating the end of the meta tag are those who cannot write a successful meta tag. Google has downplayed the keyword tag but still uses it to help verify page content. Google still places heavy emphasis on the title and description tags. Even when using proper meta tags it is hard to get a site ranked with bad navigation, bad content or worse yet no text content at all.

3.
Proper submission and re-submission to each search engine and directory. Each search engine or directory has it's own set of rules for submission and re-submission. Proper search submissions are extremely important to getting a high search ranking.
